Morning Cravings by Nin Harris

Morning Cravings by Nin Harris (Indonesia). (Story is only available in print.)

In this tale the history of a whole empire is outlined, some of it in the food the protagonists eat.

I received several stories centered around food. Maybe food is one of the strongest and easiest shared signifiers of culture.

But as Nin indicates in her story, what is eaten and what is not may also one of the strongest taboos in a culture.

This taleĀ also made me think of seagull eggs and their gamey flavor, so much riskier than chicken eggs. And protected these days.
